Consumerism would have us believe that joy can only be brought to our wee-ones through the purchase of the #1 most current product licensed by Disney (and being sold at your local superstore for $19.99), but that marketing team is just playing with your head. I love a good toy, but fun doesn’t necessarily come in complex packaging. Simple items can hold out attention with just as much whimsy.
Last month, I splurged on a 99¢ bag of balloons and you would have thought I brought the entire circus home. First, the boys played balloon volleyball. Then, it was the classic ‘don’t let it touch the floor’ championship. Next, came the spectacle that can only be titled the ‘let’s make noises with balloons that sound gross and then giggle outrageously while Mom rolls her eyes’ game.
