Recently my boys had the chance to ride
the local Amtrak and LOVED every minute of it!
A highlight of the trip: the dining car. The boys enjoyed a snack while rushing past the green fields of Jefferson. Weeks later, my five year-old still mentions that slice of pizza with reverence.
The schedule can be tricky as train service, in the U.S., isn’t embraced by the masses and therefore doesn’t offer a huge range of departure time choices. I actually drove our car to Albany for an appointment and the boys (Daddy Obery included) joined me there later by train. It was a great way to mix adventure with business.
Enough reading and watching- sometimes you have to jump in and experience it for yourself.
